An article published on the BBC website has reported that supplements of fatty acids found in fish oil and breast milk could reverse the progress of cystic fibrosis.
Research suggesting the therapy is effective was presented by doctors at the Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston believe Cystic Fibrosis (CF) may cause an imbalance in the levels of fatty acids in cell membranes.
The researches propose that by using supplements to restore normal levels of the acids they can reverse the effects of the disease (CF) - an approach that was successful in tests on mice.
