A recent article in the Daily Express highlighted a recent study that suggested that people with higher levels of vitamin D lowered their risk of dying from heart disease.
It is estimated that up to 15 per cent of people in the United Kingdom have dangerously low levels of vitamin D and at the same time 80 per cent of people have levels that fall below that which is considered to be healthy. Vitamin D is produced by the body when exposed to sunshine however too much exposure does not boost the levels.
A study carried out in Austria monitored 3200 men and women with angina - their vitamin D levels were tested. Over the next eight years 22 per cent died - almost 50 per cent due to heart problems. The reseachers discovered that those who had died had low levels of Vitamin D.
It is difficult getting enough Vitamin D - you must spend 15 minutes outside three times per week, eat vitamin D enriched foods or take supplements.
Both our Chewy Omega 3 with multivitamins and A-Z Mulitvitamins contain Vitamin D.
