Omega 3 Fish Oil Helps Concentration And Behaviour Of Children

A study in Durham, overseen by Dr Madeline Portwood and Dr Alex Richardson suggested that Omega 3 fish oil can significantly improve the behaviour and concentration in children.

47 children took Omega 3 fish oil supplementation for a period of 5 months.  Parents took ratings of behaviour and concentration before and after the test.  47% of the children were rated as having 'poor' or 'very poor' behaviour before supplemetation.  After only 5 months of taking an Omega 3 fish oil supplement 91% of the children with 'poor' or 'very poor' behaviour improved to 'good' behaviour.

66% of the children at the beginning of the trial had 'poor' or 'very poor' concentration.  After taking an Omega 3 fish oil supplement for 5 months, 79% of children had 'good' or 'very good' levels of concentration.  All the children who were rated as 'poor' concentrators at the beginning had improved to 'moderate' or 'good'.

Observations stated the impact of the Omega 3 supplement reduced excitability and improved concentration, which lead to a fundamental shift towards more qualitative time spent at home, enabling parents to engage their youngsters in what they thought was important, such as sitting to read books.
